We are Geof Baldry (English), Lida Baldry (Dutch), Gigi Varsakis (half Greek, half Dutch) and Jacqui Morris (English).
We (Geof and Lida) have lived in Skiathos as an integral part of the community for the last thirty five years and know the island as well, if not better than most natives. Hollywood - Special Olympics & SLH Hotels Join Forces in the island of Skiathos
Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn, joined forces with Joanna Despotopoulou, President of the SO World Summer Games Athens 2011 and Vicky Santikos, president of “Host-Town” Skiathos Special Olympics Athens 2011 and owner of the Skiathos SLH properties, Skiathos Princess and Aegean Suites Hotel, in order to promote the International Mission of Special Olympics. Skiathos Princess Hotel will host for 4 days in June 2011, the Special Olympics UK delegation. HE Dr David Landsman OBE, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the HellenicRepublic was present at the “host-town”-Skiathos ceremony. During his speech he hailed the generous support of the citizens of Skiathos, of the SkiathosMunicipality as well as of the SANTIKOS HOTELS, who generously offer free accommodation and meals for the athletes. This move has been supported by the SLH hotels in Skiathos, which are also organizing charity events for the coming period to support the great cause. SkiathosIsland and the two SLH hotels have strong relations with International celebrities and Hollywood. Skiathos has been attracting the rich and famous to its legendary beaches since the early 1960s and appears as the location for the mainland shots in the movie Mama Mia. Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Julie Walters, Amanda Seyfried and Stellan Skarsgard , the ABBA were among the guests at the Skiathos SLH hotels the previous years. The Swedish celebrity Malin Berghagen, Kate Hudson, Demis Roussos enchanted by the natural beauty of Skiathos are “fan” of island’s discrete lifestyle. This time, Hollywood, Skiathos and the Island’s SLH hotels join a Special World, the Wonderful Winning World of Special Olympics. The filming of Mamma Mia
